Whitney has worked her way up within Decisiv, starting as a Report Builder in 2012. At the time she was hired as Report Builder, Decisiv did not have a data warehouse. So Whitney learned how to use Visual Studio/SSRS, write SQL and created the first version of Decisiv’s data warehouse. As with many first versions, it was not scalable for Decisiv’s ever growing data volume and complexity, so in 2017 Whitney worked closely with a specialist in data modeling to design a new data model, re-write all reporting related content to map to the new model, move from SQL Server to Redshift and from SSRS to Jaspersoft. It was a great learning experience for her.
From there she spent some time as a Data Engineer, eventually getting the opportunity to design a brand new data warehouse. In 2021, Whitney was promoted to Director of the team she was on, Data Engineering, and the team was later re-named to Data Products. Whitney has lead the team in rolling out a custom reporting tool and another data warehouse, heavily leveraging the latest AWS technologies. Decisiv’s beta version got to production on March 25, 2022 and features real-time data and interactive visualizations.
Prior to Decisiv, Whitney’s background was non-technical and she considers her career growth to have been and continue to be a wonderful learning opportunity.
